58th Annual Blessing of the Fleet

Celebrate one of Darien’s most beloved traditions at the 58th Annual Blessing of the Fleet, a three-day festival honoring the area’s rich shrimping heritage. Hosted by the Darien-McIntosh County Chamber of Commerce, this lively event brings together locals and visitors for a full weekend of coastal fun.

Enjoy a variety of activities including an art show, local food and drink vendors, arts and crafts, a YMCA 5K, children’s activities, a classic car show, and live entertainment throughout the weekend.

The highlight takes place on Sunday with the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony, where shrimp boat captains are honored and blessed for a safe and successful season, followed by a colorful marine parade along the Darien waterfront.

As the largest Blessing of the Fleet on the East Coast, this event draws over 30,000 attendees each year and offers a true taste of Darien’s culture, community, and coastal charm.
